ROOMRUSH · THE DETAILS
Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 September 2026
RoomRush is a browser party game. There are no player accounts, nothing to install, and no advertising trackers. This page describes exactly what the product stores, why, and how to have it removed.
The short version
You do not create an account to play. Guests type a display name and join a room with a six-letter code. We keep the small amount of data needed to run a live party and to count how the product is used, and we delete the party data automatically within hours.
What we collect
- A display name you choose for a room. It is visible to everyone else in that room. It is not verified and does not need to be your real name.
- Live room state — who is in the room, votes, written answers and scores for the game in progress. This is what makes the party work.
- An anonymous device id stored in your browser so a host keeps their room across a page refresh and so we can estimate whether the same browser returns to play. It is a random string rather than a verified identity. Clearing storage or switching devices breaks this continuity.
- Product analytics — a small, fixed list of events (a page was viewed, a room was created, a guest joined, a game started, a game finished) with a random party identifier, the game id, a player count, a coarse device category (mobile / tablet / desktop) and, where present, the campaign tags in the link you arrived from.
- Optional feedback— a fixed-choice reaction after a game and, if a host submits the wrap-up, an enjoyment rating, willingness to pay, suggestions and an optional contact email. Written feedback stays private unless the host gives permission to quote it. A submitted wrap-up can be linked to that browser's anonymous device id.
- Standard server logs and error reports from our hosting and error-monitoring providers, used to keep the service up and to diagnose crashes.
What we never collect
- Your room code never enters analytics. The code is the only thing protecting a party, so it is deliberately excluded from every event, log path and analytics record.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and no data brokers.
- No email address, phone number or password is required to host or to play.
- No contact list, location, microphone or camera access is requested to play the current games.
Photos
Two camera-based games exist in the product but are switched off and cannot be started. If they are enabled in future, photos are uploaded through a private, access-controlled store, are visible only to that party, and are deleted on a scheduled job. This policy will be updated before those games are turned on.
How long it is kept
- Party data— a room's recovery snapshot lives for roughly an eight-hour party window and is then removed by a daily cleanup job.
- Analytics events carry random device and party identifiers. Individual events are scheduled for deletion after 90 days; aggregate progress reports may be kept longer. Optional submitted feedback is kept separately for product improvement and can be deleted on request.
- Browser storage stays on your own device until you clear your browser data.
Who processes it
We use a small number of established providers, each only for the purpose listed:
- Vercel — hosting, content delivery and privacy-friendly, cookie-free site analytics.
- Supabase — the database and the realtime channel that carries a live party.
- Sentry — error monitoring, when enabled, so crashes can be fixed.
- Stripe — payment processing. Billing is currently switched off and RoomRush is free while in beta; if you ever pay, card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us.
Children
RoomRush is a general-audience party game and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and it will be removed.
Your choices and your rights
You can clear everything RoomRush has stored in your browser at any time by clearing your site data. Because parties are anonymous, we usually cannot find “your” records from a name alone — but if you contact us with enough detail to identify a session, we will delete what we can and tell you plainly what we could not. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, and to complain to a regulator. We handle requests in line with the privacy law of British Columbia, Canada.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the “last updated” date above changes with it. RoomRush is in active development and this page is kept in step with what the product actually does.
